State of the Sector - December 2024 (after Event 18)
With The Arkangel Fleet’s escape from the time dilation effects caused by the destruction of The Forge of Vulcanos they find themselves in a Sector in flames. Contact with Arkangel station was quickly reestablished upon their escape, calculations made during internal chronometers, given a variance of .5 to 3.2 percentiles due to universal drift and warp displacement, state that the fleet has been lost for approximately 18 standard months. In that time the Archduke has declared himself the Star Father reborn, stating that all children of Terra owe him fealty. Given the increased tensions present in the sector this was enough to trigger a state of Total War, causing a number of factions to flock to the Star Father’s banner.
OOC: for the sake of simplicity all active player characters were considered to be “with the fleet” during the time dilation event, thus even if your character did not play the last game, they have been displaced with the other players.

Arkangel is bloody but unbowed. With the apparent loss of their main fleet Arkangel has been fighting a primarily defensive war against a host of foes. Explorator Fleet Kerris has committed to protecting Arkangel Space but has not been willing to go on the offensive due to recent disagreements with the Captains' Table. The formidable Mechanicus vessels led by the titanic Tyranus Ex Machina have provided a strong bulwark against any attacks against the station, however there is little that could be done to prevent the shrinking of Arkangel’s borders. The once fair world of Nethia has provided both tactical advantages and disadvantages, becoming the heart of the defence strategy. Arkangel's many foes know that the destruction of this world would cripple the Star Fort’s ability to resupply, thus it has been the primary target of a majority of the attacks they have sustained. Unfortunately for Arkangel's enemies the 1st Kasputin Rifles know this too. They have turned the breadbasket of Arkangel into a deathtrap for all foolish enough to test them. Now the blood of Human, Ork and Aeldari alike have fed the soil of Nethia.
Attack from the Sector is not the only problem Arkangel Fleet faces. Transmissions indicate that The Maw of Ni’ir has been blockaded on the far side by forces under the command of Planetary Governor Cecilia Elizabeth Blair who has declared her loyalty to her new betrothed The Grand Duke Adamska Augustus Shenley-Mars Octavian XVII, God Emperor Reborn. Any ships sent to attempt scouting or parlay with the forces at the other side of the Maw have not returned.
The Most Holy Order of the Everlasting Font is now The Dominion of the Star Father. Her Holiness, Handmaiden of the Faith, Successor to the Prince of the Earth, Primate of Aqua Aeternus, Vessel of the Light of Sol, Servant of the Servants of the Star Father, Hestia Lucretia Juliai has declared the Arch-Duke the Star Father Reborn and anointed him God-Emperor of all humanity and acts as the head of his church.
The Arbour of the Righteous on the other hand have declared a Holy Crusade upon the False Emperor and all who aid him. They have entered a full military alliance with Arkangel however they have suffered significant incursions by Orks so have not been able to aid much in the defence of Arkangel space beyond intelligence sharing and fleet coordination.
The Blessed Multitude Trade Federation is an Empire divided. The military allies of the recently assassinated presidential candidate Gehazi have staged a coup, throwing their support behind The Dominion of the Star Father as he has vowed to save the people of The BMTF from “Jessica Terrorist” and her corrupt sponsors in Arkangel. A full two thirds of The BMTF have sworn to the Star Father, with the remaining third still loyal to their elected leader “Jessica Freedom-Fighter.”
The T’au Federation have withdrawn from The Font and are pledging support to The Dominion of the Star Father though reports suggest they are mostly keeping out of this conflict.
The Orks have ostensibly split into two factions. Cheevus FlashGob has killed Warlord Snappa Twobites making himself the new Warboss of the Bad Moon clan. He has declared a Waaagh and has been raiding and plundering the sector at large. Warboss Lawk Edonsun of the Evil Sunz and Ol’ Bert Broketoof of the Blood Axe Clans have broken away from Cheevus and have established their own territory based around a long standing Ork outpost. If their leaving was a shrewd political manoeuvre or simple survival is anyone's guess.
The Aeldari have joined the war on both sides of the conflict but avoid fighting other Aeldari ships.
Drukhari raids have resumed with a vengeance, attacking all sides, wherever they see a weakness.
Port Svartalf has declared neutrality in the conflict. So far this neutrality has been respected with no side wishing to lose the potential advantage of a neutral ground. The Iron Council is now being largely dominated by the charismatic Commodore Norfolk with his new flagship Rhythm of War.
Economic
The entire sector has been subject to massive hyperinflation as a result of the chaos caused by this War. Both Arkangel and BMTF stock exchanges have suffered massive disruption with Svartalf being the only market to remain relatively stable.
Diplomatic
The diplomatic situation at the moment has Arkangel, The Arbour and the forces loyal to Jessica Freedom-Fighter in a mutual alliance with Aeldari vessels assisting but not formally entering the alliance. The Dominion of the Star Father consists of a significant fleet of Imperial vessels loyal to the Archduke with his colossal flagship Terminus est Divinitatus at its head, The Font, two thirds of the BMTF and some Aeldari vessels.
Aside from these two large factions there are groups of Orks, a small faction of Aeldari, Druhkari and the forces of Commodore Norfolk who have declared allegiance to no side and have been plundering to their heart's content.
Due to its current “neutrality” Svartalf has become a hotbed of activity as all sides use it for intelligence gathering and resource trading.
Rumours
Leviathan, flagship of LePitch has been seen in and around Arkangel Space emerging suddenly from the Warp to aid Arkangel forces only to disappear as quickly as it appeared once it has changed the course of the battle.
