State of the Sector - October 2024 (after Event 17)

Military

Stella-Pater Vult! The Arbour of the Righteous have called a Holy Crusade! The majority of Arbour forces have assaulted Font space, taking special interest in the Tau and their proxies thanks to intelligence given to them by the Arkangel fleet. There have been large scale battles between these forces, the T’au were expecting this assault but were outclassed in direct conflict with the surprisingly well informed Arbour fleet. This looks likely to continue unless more ships are made available. Some smaller Houses and Raider Orders have attacked the edges of BMTF space only to find the BMTF on the highest alert and as such suffered catastrophic casualties.

The BMTF have not not committed to this War fully as they have been focusing on their election. However a recent terrorist attack by the Dunrega Dynasty has complicated things somewhat. The assistance that the Arkangel fleet have given to Jessica Presidential provided a landslide victory if it were not for a extremely public and unsubtle assassination carried out by The Dunrega dynasty, as such Jessica has had to distance herself from the Arkangel fleet somewhat but has been angle to place the blame on the Dunrega, publicly disavowing them and stating that they were a rogue element acting alone. Reports have surfaced suggesting this was due to dispute regarding money and as such some believe that the late candidate Gahazi may have been in debt or had some ties to the Dunrega Dynasty. As such the Dunrega Dynasty are considered criminals in BMTF space and are being actively pursued by their security forces. The rest of the Arkangel fleet are still able to pass through BMTF space as normal.

Ork Raiders have taken full advantage of this situation and have been attacking most factions in the sector. Ork attacks against both Arkangel space and Arbour space were stopped in their tracks by the efforts of the Kapustin Dynasty and the 1st Kasputin rifles. Reports state the Orks have attacked both Tau and Font space.

The Knights Encarmine have been destroyed as a major force however it is believed a small number of ships may have fled and therefore survived.

Drukhari raids have dropped to an all time low in the system.

Craftworld Tel’Sharr ships continue to appear without warning to assist Arkangel Fleet activity and their increased visibility has allowed prognosticators to make a strong estimation of its location in the sector.

Economic

The Grand Bank of Arkangel continues to bring a massive bounty of wealth to worthies all across Arkangel and savvy traders in the other economic blocks of the Sector.

The BMTF’s chaotic elections have caused their Grand Stock Exchange to recede somewhat due to sceptical investors unwilling to bet the farm in a time of uncertainty.

The Svartalf exchange is having a firesale due to the destruction of the Knights Encarmine and Maughir Khir’s unceremonious exit from the Iron Council.

Savvy investors have noticed that the Icarus Promethium, Petrochemical, and Mining Corporation are reporting a significant dip in profits this quarters, a full 12.4 percent lower than previously projected earnings, this has caused sharepoint pricing fluctuations on the Arkangel stock exchange

Diplomatic

Upheaval continues on Svartalf Station as they have lost two Iron Councilors in a short period of time. Gaius' vacated seat has been taken by Commodore Norfolk, Khirs seat however remains unclaimed, it has been suggested that given the extreme upheaval that has taken place, Khir's usual rivals are not keen on immediately filling his position. A cult of The God Emperor has taken root on Svartalf, the full effect of this have yet to be seen but it has made dealing with this lawless station slightly easier.

With the election of ambassadors Arkangel is able to conduct full diplomatic operations with the three human Star Empires. The Court of King Agravain in the Arbour of the Righteous considers Arkangel to be their friend and invites them to join their most Holy Crusade against the Tau and their corrupted puppets in the Font. The Situation in the BMTF is slightly more complex, the new President and Chief Executive Officer Jessica Presidential considered the Arkangel fleet allies, however her people are somewhat suspicious due to the recent actions of the Dunrega Dynasty. While the Arkangel Fleet are still able to access BMTF space, the Dunrega Dynasty are considered criminals and are being actively pursued by BMTF security forces. This situation will continue to develop as the BMTF will not let this matter slide. Her holiness, handmaiden of the faith, Successor to the Prince of the Earth, Primate of Aqua Aeternus, Vessel of the light of Sol, Servant of the servants of the Star Father, Hestia Lucretia Julii has declared the Arbour as Heretics for their unprovoked attacks and are suspicious of the Arkangel Fleets close ties with them. She has not gone so far as to openly declare an intent to join the Tau Federation. It is believed that there are significant political factions in the Font who remain sceptical of the Tau Federations intentions.

Recent Events

The construction of the Reliquary and the subsequent interment of the Blessed Canteen of St Kylie has enthused the Faithful of Arkangel. Sermons dedicated to the Blessed St Kylie have been found to bolster the Spirit and Will of those who hear them in miraculous ways. The full might of Explorator Fleet Kerris has moved from its station above Forge Ichadon and come to Arkangel itself. They are staying just beyond the range of the star forts weapons and refusing most contact besides from their continued insistence that Admech members of the Arkangel Fleet put pressure on the Captains Table to locate the Digital Angel and/or identify the one who removed it before judgement could be given. The terrifying size of the Tyrannus Ex Machina has many worried about what will happen when the patience of the Cult of Mars runs out.

Rumours

The station is alive with rumours that the BMTF paid off ork raiders to act as bait so their Navy could attack the Dunrega Dynasty damaging their ship in the process.

The strange reports of Briggs LePitch continue to plague Arkangel station. His Colours have been hung in various places around Arkangel station, no one knows who has flown them or how they came to be placed there. Recruitment posters have been found calling on stalwart void hands to join his crew. Interestingly one clause he states “If ye be in fear of thy life and believe ‘tis thy end, call to me! I shall see ye through the sea of souls back to Terra in return for one hundred solar years of service as my crew.” Some have reported hearing his voice echoing through the halls and corridors of the station proclaiming, “When once again I walk with mortal feet, Thine foes shall fear the colours of my fleet. When once again I have lungs to draw breath, Mine allies enemies shall know only death.”

OOC: Faithful characters may now use Mass Player Inspire or Mass Player Heal each Once Per Day for free as long as they invoke the name of St Kylie as part of the RP requirements.
