Description

The Central Bank of Arkangel is an imposing structure, as much as shrine to wealth as it is a monument to Imperial power, opulence, decadence…

The structure itself spans a number of levels, melded into the superstructure of the station to prevent the wholesale removal of the section. The lower tiers cater to the general population of Arkangel, moving upwards to its various mercantile houses before one reaches the golden upper tiers by appointment and extensive vetting only. It is here where the business of Lords Captain’ and the depositing of their booty is done. Some which of course, is taken extremely seriously in accordance with the sacred code of sainted Morgan and Bartholomew.

This space is almost as much an art gallery and a museum as it is a bank. A number of items donated from the personal collections of the various Lord Captain’s add a weight of class and wealth to this place, rumour has it, that even an original painting by the great Serena d'Angelus hangs somewhere within.

Each of the Great Houses of Arkangel that have contributed to the construction of the place are represented within. At the entrance, the visitors enter and exit under the unflinching gazes of the Lord’s Captain Cartwright, Lupus and Rexuz, an unerring promise cast in gold of pursuit upon land, through the stars and in the sight of the Emperor’s judgement to any who would see to steal from this place.

A crystalline statue cast in the image of the Lord Captain Alexander holds court within a sumptuous lounge to the one side of the great hall, the exotic crystal refracting the light and providing a soft and pleasant illumination to the space so that those who come here might eat and drink and learn that truly, business can be mixed with pleasure.

The Hall of Contracts is held by Lord Captain Victoria, a towering and prim statue of pristine marble and gold, set to remind those who come here to make compact, that there is honour to this and words have power in this place. Lord Captain Von Den Totten presides over the Hall of Trade where all things might be brought and sold. A flawless is visage of platinum and diamond in which those who come to trade might see themselves reflected and ponder their worth. The Hall of Accounting is held by Lord Captain Tollman, cast in gold said to be taken from the hoards of the foes of Arkangel. This particular statue is set to see all that goes on within the hall, a large sword held in one hand a set of scales in the other. A reminder, that there is a cost for all things. Quickly, in the fashion of space farers a tradition arises of setting a coin upon the scales to bring good fortune…

Finally, an imposing statue of Lord Captain Borovich stands eternal sentinel over the heavy-set doors leading to the vaults. An ironic jest or perhaps a nod showing that Arkangel’s premier bank robbers were consulted on the security of this place and all that entails…

Not long after the construction of the bank, in true pirate tradition. A rumour begins to circulate amongst the crews, the gamblers, the drinkers. In each and every level, in each and ever bar where the great prize that the Central Bank must surely hold is discussed and desired, that a great curse has been set over the gold by the Captains of Arkangel so that any that seeks to take from them shall know Hell as their final fate.
